On Tubby’s last beach day in Sydney before heading around the world with Lucy, Gav and I took him to a nudist beach and bought him ice cream. The beach was an accident, the ice cream was not. Safe travels my friends. We’ll all miss you.

I was thinking of that bible verse about washing feet to accompany this, but thought I’d go with something a little closer to my own personal set of beliefs and values.

At one point, when Akifusa was seated on the veranda having Ingazaemon wash his feet, Iesada came running up behind him and struck off his head, Before his head fell, Akifusa drew out his short sword and turned to strike, but cut off Ingazaemon’s head. The two heads fell into the wash basin together. Akifusa’s head then rose into the midst of those present. This was the sort of magic technique that he consistently had. ~ The Hagakure

I spent a couple days submitting work to the World Press Photo Competition.  So to celebrate finishing that arduous task I bought a folding softbox.  Pretty nice light for something that fits in my pocket. . . almost.

I sure am glad I took the day to head down to the Sydney Cricket Ground for the fourth day of the new years test match.  The Pakistanis looked in control of the match until about three quarters of the way through the day.  The Aussies pipped them at the post.  It was easily the best day of cricket I’ve seen since Satchin’s debut test in Sydney . . . a long time ago.

Jo and I spent new years at Meroo National Park, just south of Ulladulla.
